The PRS 513 line of guitars is always popular in the UK and that is true at the moment as well.  Paul Reed Smith really focused on versatility with this guitar.  The number of sound options is incredible with the choice of using 5 different pickups for a total of 13 different sounds.

You’ve got the 5 way blade pickups and the 3 way mode selectors.  So we are talking sounds like heavy humbucking to clear humbucking and even single coil sounds.

Paul Reed Smith’s website says that the original version of this guitar isn’t being made in the factory anymore, but they are making some anniversary models, in addition to the swamp ash one.  Maybe that is why people are buying these models so much?  I want to play another PRS 513 as soon as possible because it feels so good to have a range of high quality sound options and they are damn cool looking too (that always helps)!

There are at least 3 different PRS 513 models in the official catalog and you can even find some additional rare gems on Ebay.  Keep your eyes open to spot some cool configurations that I know probably exist out there.

The PRS 513 is made from mahogany/maple and comes in over 20 different colors with my favorites being orange, scarlet red and blue matteo.

The PRS 513 Swamp Ash is made from swamp ash and is available in black, mccarty tobbaco sur, natural, powder blue, seafoam green, tri-color sunburst, vintage cherry, vintage neutral and vintage sunburst.  The PRS 513 Swamp Ash has a special ash wood which gives it an alternate look and sound compared to the normal 513 model.  I can totally see this being my next guitar.

The PRS 25th Anniversary 513 made from mahogany and carved figure maple which offers a slightly different sound configuration from the standard 513.  It comes in the following totally exotic colors: angry larry, charcoal burst, fire red burst, matteo mist, sapphire smokeburst, smokeburst, smoked amber and smoked black slate.
